50th Annual Finer Womanhood Scholarship Gala
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Eta Upsilon Zeta Chapter in collaboration with the Fort Wayne Finer Women Society, Inc. conducted the 50th Annual Finer Womanhood Scholarship Gala “Blue Elevation - 50 Years of Manifesting the Power of S.H.E. (Social, Health and Economic Justice)” on May 10, 2025 at the beautiful Grand Wayne Convention Center. Lisa Richardson, event chairperson. did a fabulous job planning and coordinating the event. Highlights of the Gala included spectacular ambiance and beautiful decorations, awarding $9,000.00 in scholarship funds to six local high school students, an Epic Eta Upsilon Zeta Chapter Documentary, guest speaker – Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Indiana State Director, Londra Dufor, portrait reveal of the charter members of Eta Upsilon Zeta Chapter, vendors, delicious food, and dancing with music provided by DJ Michael Johnson aka DJ Pup Luv.
Students were awarded scholarships based upon their GPA, school activities, community service, essay, and interview. Scholarships in the amount of $1,500.00 each were awarded to: Qui’Nya Molton-Bowens, Kennedy Reese, Tani Hairston and Kaylee Birely. In collaboration with Parkview Health, two scholarships in the amount of $1,500.00 were awarded to JaMaya Green and Joslyn Marcum. Congratulations to all the winners!
Selected as Zeta of Year was Lisa Richardson for exemplifying sisterly love and service to the sorority. She chaired the chapter’s three major events for the year, Blue Revue: Gospel Cabaret, Blue Rhapsody II: 50 Years of Moving Forward Together – Sip and Paint and Blue Elevation: 50th Annual Finer Womanhood Scholarship Gala.
Background: Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded on the campus of Howard University in 1920 and was established by five undergraduate "Founders" based upon the principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood. The organization has a membership of 125,000+ college-educated, dynamic, community service driven and diverse and professional women with over 875+ chapters throughout the world.
