Continuing To Serve: My Journey From A USAF Airman To The Newest 1st Vice Commander of American Legion Post 148

Kasey Carr
1st Vice Commander of American Legion Post 148
After proudly serving in the United States Air Force for six years, I knew that my connection to the military wasn’t something I wanted to leave behind. The camaraderie, the shared mission, and the sense of purpose were things I deeply valued—and still do. That’s why, around five or six years ago, I joined American Legion Post 148. It was a way to stay close to fellow veterans, support our community, and to continue contributing in a meaningful way.
Roughly 2 years ago, I was honored to be appointed to serve on the executive board of our post. That role gave me valuable insight into how the American Legion operates and how much it truly does for veterans, their families, and the community at large. I saw firsthand the dedication of our members and the importance of strong leadership to keep our mission moving forward.
As of May 4th, 2025, I’m proud to serve as the 1st Vice Commander of Post 148. The 1st Vice plays a vital role in supporting the Post Commander and helping to oversee the day-to-day operations of the post. One of my primary responsibilities is membership—recruiting new members, engaging current ones, and ensuring our post remains a vibrant and welcoming place for all veterans. I’ll also step in and work closely with the rest of our leadership team to plan events, support programs, and continue advocating for those who’ve served.
I'm excited to take on this position because it gives me the chance to give back even more to an organization that means a great deal to me. It's an opportunity to lead, to grow, and to help shape the future of our post. Being the 1st Vice Commander isn’t just a title—it’s a continuation of my service, and I’m grateful for the chance to keep making a difference.
