Xayarath named Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its annual regional athletes and coaches of the year awards for indoor track and field and among the list of honorees includes Huntington senior Erica Xayarath.

Xayarath was named the Great Lakes Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year. She was tabbed the Crossroads League MVP of the Championships having scored 26 points in jumps behind a victory in long jump and runner-up finishes in high jump and triple jump.

The Fort Wayne native currently holds the HU record in high jump (1.73m) and sits third in the Forester history books in long jump (5.87m) and triple jump (11.62m).

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 18 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 154 NAIA All-America honors and 501 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
