Hidden in a profound part of the human brain, a place only visible to those with a pure heart touched by tragic adversity… There are countless places I’ve wanted to visit, and countless things I’ve longed to do. But every traumatic event flashes through my brain as I stand on the edge of this bridge. I’ve chased the meaning in life for so long, yet it always felt out of reach– like something was missing. I cannot do this on my own. I close my eyes and inhale — as I open them, a new world unfolds before me. A place beyond reality, not tainted by mankind. Where the sky glistens with hues of twilights that make me feel less alone. Where the flowers blossom so large they feel like enormous cushions. Where the reflection of the bodies of water shows the future I hold, it’s unlike any other place; each living organism hums a different tune while somehow being in harmony. Spirits express themselves as vibrant dancing colors. For the first time in my lifetime, I do not feel alone. The beauty of Mother Nature overwhelms me with comfort and strength; I feel a connection of light from my chest to the Earth’s core. The view gives me a sense of peace, a glimpse of what I can become- I take a deep breath, as I exhale, I see myself standing on the bridge again. This time I think of the beauty of Earth. The world before me now is different- less vibrant, yet full of potential. Even while the other version only exists in my imagination, I know I have and will use the power to make a change.
