West Central Fire Protection District to Host Annual Public Safety Day

Interactive Demonstrations and Family-Friendly Activities Planned for September 27th
The West Central Fire Protection District (WCFD) invites media to its annual Public Safety Day, a free community event focused on safety education, emergency preparedness, and showcasing the vital work of first responders.

WHEN: Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
WHERE: West Central Fire Station, 11321 Aboite Center Road, Fort Wayne, IN
This engaging event offers a unique opportunity for attendees of all ages to learn about various aspects of public safety through interactive experiences and live demonstrations. Highlights of the day will include:
• Live Demonstrations: Thrilling vehicle extrication and ladder truck demonstrations by WCFD firefighters, as well as an impressive Allen County Sheriff K9 demonstration.
• Emergency Services Showcase: Get an up-close look at emergency vehicles, including the Lutheran AirHelicopter (subject to availability).
• Child Safety Initiatives: Expert technicians will be on hand for child car seat checks, and WCFD will host a bike safety station.
• Interactive Fun: Kids can test their skills on the Junior Firefighter Obstacle Course.
• Disaster Preparedness: Learn essential tips from the American Red Cross on how to prepare for various emergencies.
"Public Safety Day is a cornerstone event for our district," said Christina Perez, WCFD PIO. "It’s a chance for us to connect with our community, educate families on crucial safety practices, and highlight the dedication of all first responders. We encourage everyone to join us for a day of fun and learning."
Media representatives are invited to attend and capture footage of the demonstrations, conduct interviews with WCFD personnel, and speak with community partners.
Food trucks planned to attend include Salsa Grill, Whip n’ Chill, and Got-To-Have-It.
