Shambaough & Son Partners with City for Jobs When: March 26, 2019

The City of Fort Wayne and nonprofit Fort Wayne UNITED has partnered with construction/engineering firm Shambaough & Son, the largest mechanical and electrical construction services contractor in the state, to provide higher-wage employment opportunities, up to 40 positions at a starting wage of $14/hour.  The per-hour wage will be bumped up to $15 (with a promise of future increases) after a hired employee completes a four-month soft skills and workplace class, taught by Fort Wayne UNITED’s Employment Subcommittee and the City of Fort Wayne Human Resources Department.  Fabrication and welding positions at the construction company’s Fire Protection Fabrication facility in Fort Wayne are available.

In a press statement, Mayor Henry said about the partnership: “I’m encouraged by this new partnership that’s focused on job creation, relationship building, and enhancing the quality of life in our community.  Fort Wayne UNITED and Shambaugh & Son are two respected organizations that are committed to making a positive and lasting difference.”
