For the second straight year, co-hosts Nkonye Mwalilu and restaurant Joseph Decuis has partnered together for a night of African cuisine and fundraising.  Last year, attendees dined on Nigerian dishes. This year, the cuisine comes from Tanzania.  The event will be held at Joseph Decuis, 191 North Main St., Roanoke, IN 46783.

The reservations-required event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  The family-style sit down dinner begins at 7 p.m.  Tickets, purchased from Joseph Decuis, are $50 per person.  Their phone number is 260.672.1715.

Proceeds from the Tanzania dinner will benefit the nonprofit organization Kagera Advancement Inc. (KAI) for whom Nkonye and her husband Stephen (a Tanzanian native) serve as board members.  Founded in 2014, KAI is a Fort Wayne-based organization whose focus is to improve education and healthcare in Tanzania.

Over the past 5 years KAI’s impact has had positive impact across Tanzania.  Successes to date include the complete renovation of Katale Secondary School in the Katale village of the Kagera region (complete with a new library, physics lab, electricity and furniture), partial renovation of the Katale Health Clinic (providing electricity, new flooring, walls, and ceiling boards), and the provision of school supplies to Ng'wabuyi Primary School in the Nyanguge village of the Mwanza region.  KAI’s efforts remain continuous with reach into the Fort Wayne community as well.
