Race Talk From FW UNITED When: March 14, 2018

“What brought u here?” Chris Cathcart, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs at Ivy Tech, asked the assembled at Trinity English Lutheran Church. Cathcart spoke on behalf of Fort Wayne UNITED, a Mayoral initiative designed to, among other things, “help create a safer city for all, but more specifically for black men and boys,” according to their online literature.
Cathcart led a jocular (at times) and open discussion about race, specifically those relations between white and black folks. To answer the question of what brought them to the discussion, some of the attendees wanted to “understand an opposite perspective,” “hear conversations in public rather than online,” and “hear solutions.”
March 14 was the start of an eight-week discussion; subsequent sessions drop every Wednesday from 6:30 P.M. to 8 P.M., in Room 111 at the Education Wing at Trinity English, 450 W Washington Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46802.
