Sarafina was born in Wisconsin but raised here in Fort Wayne which she affectionately calls her hometown. She grew up singing in church and talent shows then moved away about 20 years ago to discover the world of performing. She has sang and performed with Fantasia, Tyler Perry and various other artists. She also spent time performing on cruise ships and traveled all over the world including Africa and Antarctica. Through her travels she began to see that music was a universal language and even when people in other countries did not understand the words in her songs, they could relate to the sounds, melodies and rhythms of the music she was singing which included R and B, Afro Pop and Acoustic.
The impact she saw led her to doing Sound Therapy in which she uses the frequency and vibration to touch people. Her instruments include crystal singing boards, rain sticks, a crystal xylophone along with guided meditation and affirmations. She also sings and hums various harmonies.
In this busy world, she has found that the practice of sound therapy is calming and healing. It allows people to be quiet and hear God for themselves. Sound therapy allows the listener to guide themselves as they are listening.
She has various albums and the album, “A Peace of Peace” is available on all digital platforms. Her book, "Sister Take My Hand” is a collection of personal experiences and other women's stories. The book, a guide back to yourself is about love, life and relationships and it's not just for women but there is something inside for everyone.
Sarafina is excited to perform here in her hometown after several years and recalled a time when she was on 106 & Park in 2009 and there was online voting and the community of Fort Wayne showed out and she won due to the amazing voting and participation from Fort Wayne. She also received her own day from the mayor then which was August 24, 2009.
