Fort Wayne Housing Authority Celebrates George Guy’s Transformative Leadership And Announces New Interim CEO

The Fort Wayne Housing Authority (FWHA) Board of Commissioners announced that George Guy, CEO and Executive Director, will transition from FWHA to become the next Chief Executive Officer of Lighthouse Youth & Family Services in Cincinnati, Ohio. He will officially assume his new role on December 1, 2025. Lighthouse is one of Cincinnati’s leading nonprofits serving youth and families, providing an integrated system of housing, education, and behavioral-health services that create stability and opportunity across the region.
During his tenure, Guy led FWHA through unprecedented growth and innovation, catalyzing a $250 million investment and repositioning plan slated to unfold over the next three years. The initiative includes multiple transformative projects, such as the redevelopment of Hillcrest Commons, anticipated for completion by the end of 2025. Through strategic alignment of education, homelessness, and development efforts, Guy created a fiscally sustainable framework that expanded resources and access for Fort Wayne families while strengthening the city’s housing infrastructure.
Additionally, FWHA secured the prestigious Moving to Work (MTW) designation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, a status awarded to only a select group of high-performing agencies nationwide. Guy also championed local and state Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) programs to advance sustainable practices and equitable development through strategic partnerships with government and private stakeholders. These achievements positioned FWHA as a national model for innovation and community-driven housing solutions.
Nationally, Guy served as President of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) from 2023 to 2025, representing more than 3 million households and 8 million residents across the United States. His leadership has earned hundreds of local, regional, and national awards for innovation, advocacy, and excellence in affordable housing. He was also honored with the Civil Rights Champions Award from the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, which recognizes leaders whose work embodies Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of justice and advocacy.
“Leading this organization has been one of the greatest honors of my career. I’m profoundly grateful for our Board’s leadership, our team’s relentless dedication, and the many partners in both public and private sectors who have joined us in creating lasting impact. What we’ve accomplished together has been transformational, and I’m confident the momentum will continue to build long after this chapter. Fort Wayne will always hold a special place in my heart because of the lives we’ve touched and the legacy we’ve built together. As I prepare to take on new opportunities and assignments, I do so with deep gratitude, pride, and a continued commitment to serve.”
FWHA Board Chair Donna Hanks lauded Guy’s impact:
“George’s leadership has made a lasting impact, not only within Fort Wayne but across the region and the nation. Throughout his tenure, George has elevated the Fort Wayne Housing Authority through his vision, advocacy, and
steadfast commitment to community. We are proud of all that he has accomplished and look forward to seeing his continued success as he brings that same spirit of purpose and excellence to Lighthouse Youth & Family Services.”
