Rev. Stewart Speaks: God’s Timing

God’s timing is everything! I recently sat down and talked to my husband about God’s timing and we laughed at the thought of thinking we knew what was best for our lives. Ten years ago when we got married, we thought we wanted to have children immediately. We weren’t exactly sure that’s what we wanted, but we knew we didn’t get married until we were 26 years old and I felt like my biological time clock was ticking. The years began to go by and there was no sign of life within my womb. I remember crying out to God for a sign. I was continuously receiving signs and words of prophecy that I would conceive but I just could not see. I remember having conversations with my husband about trusting God when we cannot trace him. It was tough.

Fast forward to 2023 and the Lord has blessed us abundantly. Raising triplets is the most difficult thing I have ever done in my life. It has required a selflessness I did not know that I possessed. I stopped in my tracks and smiled yesterday as I reflected on these last ten years.

What if God had blessed us with the ability to conceive ten years ago before we had the opportunity to become financially stable? Regardless of how things worked out, we know that God’s timing is perfect. Had we conceived that first year, God would have still provided for us.

I’ve recently been reminded that God makes no mistakes. It is not my duty as a believer to worry. It is however my duty to have patience. Hebrews 10:36 says “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise”. This scripture reminds me that waiting on God is not easy. It requires patience and a strong reliance on God even when we cannot see him at work.

God was at work ten years ago and he is at work now. Perhaps you are waiting on your spouse, waiting on a promotion at work, waiting to conceive children or waiting on an approval letter from a bank. My prayer is that you trust in the Lord and remember that God’s delay is not God’s denial. In God’s time he will show up and he will show out! That’s the kind of God that we serve. Trust him today. Be blessed.
