Syvila Weatherford, a Los Angeles native educated in Compton and graduated from M.I.T., began her career as a systems and computer engineer, later moved into patent law, and eventually became an author. Drawing on her engineering and legal backgrounds, she writes stories that entertain and inform. Her books, Blessings From The Four Winds and Smoke On The Wind, are for the adult reader, and explore forbidden love, race relations, and ingenious survival tactics in those lawless times.

Blessings From The Four Winds, inspired by the life of Weatherford’s great grandfather, tells the story of a young Black cowboy who loses his heart to a Native American girl.
