The elegant mansion that was once the local headquarters of Pizza Hut will see new life as the Kaizen Center, a high-tech, multi-use corporate and community event space.

Owned and managed by Sweetwater, the stately building sits on 17 wooded acres off West Jefferson Boulevard in a natural setting. Sweetwater partnered with Larry Weigand and Weigand Construction on the renovation.

The facility boasts three conference rooms and smaller meeting rooms that are all well suited for the latest technology, as well as office space and a small kitchen that can be used for catered events.

The building’s structure was kept intact, and upgrades included state-of-the-art audio and video equipment, increased parking, and a circle drive at the front entryway.

In honoring the legacy of Pizza Hut owners and founders Dick and Deanna Freeland, Sweetwater CEO Chuck Surack kept their offices and other features of the building intact during the renovation.

In Japanese, Kaizen means “continuous improvement.” Surack hopes local companies and organizations will host retreats, corporate events and fundraisers to fully utilize the space to focus on a better future for our city.
